Landscapes

Please note that landscapes only work for their respective version of Condor. Condor 2 landscapes can be used on Condor 3 if and only if installed and converted with Condor Updater.
In order to offer a comfortable download, simultaneous downloads are limited. Please turn off download managers, they are not supported and will be blocked.

Condor Updater is a tool dedicated to the installation of Condor 2 & 3 landscapes and goodies. It’s the preferred (and the easiest!) way to download and install landscapes. You can download it from here.

This landscape is based off a non-published scenery developed for Condor v1 of the Northeast by a former club member from my local gliding club. The primary purposes are for primary student training as well XC training for pilots for members of my local gliding club. This is why most of the detail has been focused around Sterling Airport (3B3), the home airport for the local club (GBSC - Greater Boston Soaring Club).

Terrain elevation data is derived from the 1/3rd arc-second DEM 3DEP data supplied by the USGS. The raw data was merged and warped to the UTM19 coordinate system, and scaled to a resolution of 30m with integer meter precision.

Textures are derived from the USDA Farm Service Agency NAIP 4-band images. The 4th band (near-infrared) was also used to help generate water alpha maps, as well as combined with red/green bands to generate thermal maps.

Tree canopy coverage maps were derived from the 2016 USFS Tree Canopy Cover raw data. There have been a couple touch-ups to the coverage map around Sterling Airport, but otherwise the forest maps are coming from the raw canopy cover data after projection and scaling to the proper resolution for the landscape. This means there will be some inaccuracies like stray trees here and there that will require manual touch-up (but for most purposes, is just a cosmetic issue).

3D models were either made by me or sourced from freely licensed online sources (e.g. the Condor assets library).

Only Sterling airport has been "fully" modeled with asphalt and 3D objects. Some other local airports have been modeled with asphalt and objects. All other airports have been untouched in terms of models, however the terrain has already been flattened to facilitate easy updates to the scenery without having to update the base scenery files (patches will just include the airport G/O .c3d files).

I'll happily accept donations at my e-mail address (see Paypal button), but I want to be clear I don't expect any and am primarily maintaining this landscape for my local club's purposes (i.e. happy to do the work for free in my spare time, but am not guaranteeing anything in terms of quick responses to updates, etc.). I'd also happily welcome other developers to help maintain the landscape as well (develop new airport models, touch up forest and thermal maps, etc.). I currently have the landscape maintained in a local SVN repository on my computer, and would be happy to publish it if someone were to be able to provide hosting (a tall order, due to some of the large filesizes), which would make collaborative development very straightforward.

This is a much modified and updated version of the South East UK2 scenery (please remove South East UK2 from your computer).
This updated version corrects many of the errors of the previous version. It has Trees, Water Effects, Accurate Thermal Map and 3d objects. All airfields have 3d objects, some are generic and some are fairly accurate.

This scenery contains many of the UK Gliding sites including Lasham, Dunstable and Husbands Bosworth.

Thanks to those who have contributed to this scenery and to those whose objects I have used.

This is a detailed, photorealistic landscape of the Raleigh / Durham area of North Carolina (also known as the Research Triangle in the business world). North Carolina is the home of the historic Wright Brothers flight.

The landscape is relatively small, but highly detailed (6x6 tiles @ 8k). Landscape features include:

- Color corrected aerial imagery for spring/summer months.
- 15 modeled airports (some grass and some asphalt) - most airports include custom modeled buildings.
- Two of the airports have weekend glider operations in real life (Crooked Creek & Ball Field)
- Crooked Creek has a sloped runway (just like in real life) - it is as smooth as I could get it with the current Condor Landscape tool.
- The downtown area of Raleigh has many of its tallest buildings modeled. Hopefully in a future Condor update they can be seen from a further distance - as of now, you have to be within about 3 miles (5km) before they become visible.
- Trees have been added to the scenery.
- Watch out for the Cape Fear River tower and the WRAL TV tower - they are both about 2,000 ft tall.
- There are 3 PDA / planning maps to choose from (simply rename the one you want to use to RDU-USA.bmp).
- The default is the aerial landscape projected onto a hypsometric 3d heightmap (pretty neat)
- RDU-USA-plain is just the aerial landscape not projected onto the heightmap
- RDU-USA-sectional is a sectional map of the area, with slight compositing on top of the 3D heightmap.

Quebec is a province of Canada whose borders correspond to the territory of the Quebec nation.
Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean is the third largest territorial division of Quebec with an area of 95,761 km².
Despite this size, the 273,000 inhabitants live mainly along the Saguenay River and around Lac Saint-Jean, in a huge depression in the Canadian geological shield.

With the help of Pascal from the CVVS (Centre vol à voile Saguenay) for the dressing of the airfields.

Malgré cette étendue, c'est principalement le long de la rivière Saguenay et autour du lac Saint-Jean, dans une immense dépression du bouclier géologique canadien, qu'on retrouve les 273 000 habitants.
