The lift sources are medium to strong thermals for just over half the distance, initially over some hills. Half an eye needs to be kept on several airspace regions that go to ground level. However, today there is no risk of climbing into controlled airspace. The fourth leg takes us down to a very long stretch of ridge lines, some more well-defined than others. These allow us to cruise at around 120 knots much of the time. The last leg is a relatively short downwind trip back to the home airport, flown by hopping from ridge to ridge until final glide is achieved. From final glide, we fly straight onto the downwind leg of the circuit and fight the turbulence right down to a landing in a strong cross-wind.
