Mont Blanc Dash – A Frosty Flight to Glory
Welcome to the inaugural race of the Condor E-Glide competition. The finish is set at the awe-inspiring Mont Blanc, but don’t let the majestic destination deceive you—this task is far from a leisurely cruise.
Before the start line, ample and good thermals offer a deceptfully easy start. But airspace restrictions will quickly narrow your options, and as the terrain rises, thermals become ever scarcer and the low cloud base makes clouds more picturesque than useful. Meanwhile, the eastern wind adds complexity, turning ridge soaring into a test of finesse rather than a free lift ticket.
As you progress, the wind picks up and turns futher south. Crossing the high mountains will demand careful decision-making. Many paths lie ahead, but airspace constraints and worse weather to the east will shape your plan.
The finish line at Mont Blanc is a worthy finale, but don’t expect an easy glide to the end. As you climb, keep the low VNE of the Lak Mini in mind. This task will challenge your strategy and skill, and only the best pilots will make it look effortless.
