What's ccRating ?

This rating is a way of calculating a pilot's skill level in relation to other pilots through the results obtained during competitions, it is updated at the end of each day of a competition.
The initial rating of the participants is used to calculate the probability of their position in the ranking at the end of the race (prognoses) as well as to evaluate the strength of the field (SoF), thus determining the average level of the competitors.

When the race is over, the ranking is compared to the probabilities and the greater the difference between the expected and the realised, the greater the impact on the change in the pilot's rating. For example, a pilot with a low rating who places ahead of a strong pilot will get a large increase in rating. Similarly, a good pilot who is ranked last (landed out) will see his rating strongly sanctioned. This penalty is even higher if this bad position is due to a crash but is partially mitigated if there are a significant number of other crashes. Thus, this rating encourages safe flying rather than reckless risk-taking.

For a race to be included in the rating calculation, the following conditions shall be met:
  • The competition organiser must not have declared the competition as an "unrated" one,
  • Only one participation per race,
  • It must be held online, in individual (and not as a team),
  • Server logs must be sent to Condor Club (the use of DSHelper is strongly recommended to automate the sending),
  • The day must be valid according to the FAI rules: at least 25% of the pilots must cross the finish line OR have flown a minimum distance of 100 km (this minimum distance varies according to the handicap of the participant's glider),
  • At least 2 participants.
The particular rules of the competition are not taken into account when calculating this rating (a crash is never ignored, an unsent FTR is considered a crash, all races in which the pilot has participated count), and training races are ignored.
The initial rating of a new competitor is set at 1000.

This rating project was stimulated by Witor and inspired by iRating.
