Get ready for an exciting new format in the world of FAI Virtual Gliding! The Loop Challenge brings a fast-paced, three-lap race on a predefined task, designed to create intense competition and a more eSports-style experience.
🔹 Dynamic & Unpredictable – With changing weather conditions, every lap presents new challenges.
🔹 Short & Intense – A 1-hour race keeps the action thrilling from start to finish.
🔹 A New Audience? – Is this a format for traditional Condor experts or more casual gamers? We don’t know yet, but we think it’ll be fun for everyone!
You’ll be flying over the same ridges and terrain for three laps, so the key to victory is learning the course and adapting to the evolving air masses. Master the conditions, find the best lifts, and outmaneuver your rivals!
💡 This is our first test of the format, so we need your feedback! It might not be perfect, but your input will help shape the future of eSports-style gliding competitions.

One minute before start, pilot must be on the correct side of the starting line (the side of the start area) to avoid having to return to the start area and face the departing competitors. A 2 minutes penalty will be applied to any pilot not on the correct side.
Right turns are forbidden in the last 5 minutes before the start line opens. Each circle or turn of 90° or more to the right will incur a penalty of 30 seconds per turn/circle observed.
